National Conference


NATIONAL CONFERENCE
One day National conference on green business was organized by the Department of Management Studies and Department of Information Technology of Fatima College on 15th September 2012. The day bloomed with the inauguration ceremony holding the blessings of God and the lamp was lit by the respectable dignitaries of the esteemed institution.
Welcome address was delivered by Dr.Mrs.P.Uma, Director, Department of Management studies. She gave an overview of Green Business-Powering Sustainable Development. As the college is celebrating its diamond jubilee, it leads to the formation of this conference. As part of the programme, E-waste campaign was implemented in collaboration with Global E-waste Management Services.
Rev.Dr.Sr.A.Jospin Nirmala Mary, Principal, Fatima College, stressed the importance of focusing on the benefits of the society, in her presidential address.

 
Rev.Sr.Esther Mary, Secretary, Fatima College enveloped on Global Warming. She enforced that human beings are the care takers and co-creators of the universe is a highlighting fact.

While delivering key note address Mr.B.T.Bangera, Managing Director of Hi-Tech Arai Ltd, quoted, “prevents things instead of damaging it”. Hi-tech Arai was the first company to be ISO-14000 certified in rubber Industry reflected pride in his speech. He highlighted, “Every decision should be part and parcel of Green Business”, and consumption of renewable resources should be equal to the ability of nature to replenish and to maintain Eco Sustainability.

Mr.Mannar Mannan, Managing Director Global E-Waste Management, Madurai, delivered the special address. He insisted that the disposal of waste should be done in an environment friendly manner both for the industrial and domestic purpose. He ended saying that E-Wastes should be sent to recyclers and not to dumpers.
E- Waste Management Campaign
·         A special E-Waste Campaign was initiated in collaboration with Global E- Waste Management services to create awareness on boons and bans of the campaign.

Webinar
·         Ezhilmathi, alumni, Fatima college underlined the fact green marketing is very much essential for safeguarding the environment from negative impact and added that proper utilization of resources is necessary.
·          Meenakumari remarked Conventional marketing of “give customers what they want” and “sell as much as you can” should change.
·         Senthilkumar, vice-president, HSBC bank, Mumbai substantiated that every organization should analyze and practice green marketing and incur its benefits and increase it to a greater extent.
Panel Discussion:
The Panel Discussion was initiated by Mr.KR.Gnanasambandan, Vice President-TANSTIA and Managing Director, Green (India) laboratories Ltd. Madurai. He emphasized on green practices in small and medium scale industries.
      Mr.S.Parameshwaran, Chief Executive, Zandig Group of Companies, Bangalore, presented about Green Audit which enlightened that green business is an examination of what any company is doing to protect the environment. He also suggested measures to prevent pollution. Mr. Sankar Ganesh, Hr head, BGS Global hospital, Bangalore, sprinkled his thoughts on Green practice in hospitals.
Contest
Competitions include Business plan, case analysis and paper presentations covered the effervescence of Green business which enhanced student’s knowledge in coping towards ecofriendly way of living.
In valediction, the chief guest Mr. Joseph Zacharia -Director of Vikaasa School, Madurai was felicitated by Rev.Sr.Lilly Kutty-Vice-Principal, Self-finance courses, Fatima College, Madurai. She endowed ideas by comparing the Earth with human heart. She stressed on the need for change in lifestyle that would create an optimistic impact on the environment.



    Rev. Sr. G. Celine Sahaya Mary, Dean - Professional courses, Fatima College, Madurai, appreciated the works of event organizers. She pointed out the importance of sustainability by referring to Rio+20 conference held by U.S. government during June 2012. She motivated students to think green by presenting the paper designed by Ms.Britania in Rio+20 conference.

 Mr. Joseph Zachariah-Director, Vikaasa School, bequeathed thought provoking speech that kindled to go green. He stated that, “Safeguarding of earth can be implemented only by the co-operation and the willpower of the individuals. The prize winners were honoured by our Chief Guest Mr. Joseph Zachariah.
Outcome

The outcome of the National Conference ensures the sustainable growth through continual implementation of Green business practices.
